# Questions to ask an OnlyFans manager before you sign

Written by the Pout Marketing Team Last checked: 25 September 2026 6 minute read

The short answer

Before you sign with an OnlyFans or Fansly manager, ask who owns the account, where payouts go, how commission is worked out, how you can leave, who does the daily work, how your limits are recorded and what the monthly report shows. A clear answer is specific and happy to be written down; a vague one leans on reassurance. Put the answers that matter into the agreement.

Bring these questions to us too. Every application gets a free profile review and growth plan, and we will answer each question in writing.

## At a glance

- Ask every manager the same questions, so you can compare them fairly.
- Clear answers are specific, and happy to be written down.
- Vague answers lean on trust, jargon or “don’t worry about it”.
- Anything important should end up in the written agreement.
- Ownership, payouts and how to leave matter most.

## How should I use these questions?

This is a question list to take into a call with a manager or agency, with what a clear answer and a vague answer tend to sound like. It sits alongside [how to choose an OnlyFans agency](https://poutagency.com/guides/how-to-choose-an-onlyfans-agency), which covers the wider decision, and our list of [agency red flags](https://poutagency.com/guides/onlyfans-agency-red-flags).

Ask everyone you speak to the same questions, write the answers down during or straight after the call, and ask for the important ones to be put into the agreement before you sign. A good manager will not mind. Our [complete guide to OnlyFans and Fansly management agencies](https://poutagency.com/guides/onlyfans-fansly-management-agencies) explains how these arrangements usually work.

## Who owns the account, and who can get into it?

Start with ownership and [account access](https://poutagency.com/guides/glossary#account-access), because they are the hardest things to fix later.

| Question | A clear answer sounds like | A vague answer sounds like |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1. Whose name and email address will the account be in? | “Yours. We never change the email or the payout details.” | “We usually set things up on our side, it’s easier.” |
| 2. Can I change the password and remove your access at any time? | “Yes, whenever you like, and we’ll show you how.” | “You won’t need to, we look after all that.” |
| 3. Who on your team will have access, and how will they sign in? | “These named roles, signing in the way we agree, without you switching off two-factor authentication.” | “Just the team, don’t worry.” |

## How does the money work?

Ask for these answers in writing, and check they match the agreement word for word.

| Question | A clear answer sounds like | A vague answer sounds like |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 4. Will payouts come straight from the platform to me? | “Always. We invoice you for our commission afterwards.” | “We collect the earnings and pay you your share.” |
| 5. What is your commission, and is it worked out on gross or net earnings? | A single stated rate, a clear basis, and an example worked through. | “It depends,” with no example. |
| 6. Are there any other costs? | “No,” or a written list, such as setup fees, promotion budgets or tools. | “Only small extras now and then.” |

[Gross](https://poutagency.com/guides/glossary#gross) means before the platform’s fee and [net](https://poutagency.com/guides/glossary#net) means after it. Our [gross vs net commission](https://poutagency.com/guides/gross-vs-net-commission) guide explains why the difference matters, and you can test the numbers in our [commission calculator](https://poutagency.com/tools/commission-calculator).

## What happens if I want to leave?

Leaving is easier to agree at the start than at the end.

| Question | A clear answer sounds like | A vague answer sounds like |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 7. Is there a trial period, and how much notice do I give? | A specific period, written into the agreement. | “Nobody ever wants to leave.” |
| 8. What do I owe after I leave? | A precise answer that matches the agreement, such as commission on earnings up to your final day only. | “We’ll sort that out if it comes to it.” |
| 9. What happens to my content, accounts and data when I leave? | “You keep everything, we remove our access and delete your personal data unless the law says we must keep it.” | “We’d keep some things for our records.” |
| 10. Is the agreement exclusive, and for which services? | Exclusivity limited to the services provided, ending with the agreement. | “You can’t work with anyone else.” |

This is general information, not legal advice. Our guide to [leaving an agency safely](https://poutagency.com/guides/how-to-leave-an-onlyfans-agency) shows what a good exit looks like in practice.

## What will the day-to-day work and reporting look like?

| Question | A clear answer sounds like | A vague answer sounds like |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 11. Who will be my main contact, and how often will we talk? | A named person and a set rhythm, for example a weekly check-in. | “Just message us whenever.” |
| 12. What will you do in the first month? | Specific steps: a review, a plan, a posting calendar, a pricing check. | “We’ll get your numbers up.” |
| 13. What does your monthly report show, and can I see a sample? | A sample showing earnings, fees, commission, [churn](https://poutagency.com/guides/glossary#churn) and what changed, in plain English. | “You’ll see the results in your earnings.” |

## How will you respect my limits and stay honest?

These questions protect you and your fans. Chat support should follow the platform’s terms and your written limits, and never mislead fans. Check the platform’s terms on who may operate and message from an account, for example [OnlyFans’ terms (external site)](https://onlyfans.com/terms) and [Fansly’s terms (external site)](https://fansly.com/tos).

| Question | A clear answer sounds like | A vague answer sounds like |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 14. How will my limits be written down, and who sees them? | “We write them with you, everyone who works on your page follows them, and you can change them at any time.” | “We know what works, trust us.” |
| 15. Who messages my fans, and what will they never say? | Clear rules: messages follow your written limits and the platform’s terms, and never mislead fans. | “Our team knows how to get fans spending.” |
| 16. Which growth tactics will you not use? | “No bought followers, no bots, and nothing that gets round platform rules.” | “We have our own methods.” |

## Which answers should worry me?

- Any answer that changes when you ask for it in writing.
- A refusal to show a sample report or a draft agreement before you commit.
- Reassurance instead of detail: “trust us”, “don’t worry”, “everyone does it this way”.
- Any suggestion that payouts or the account email should move to them.
- A promised income figure or guaranteed growth.
- Pressure to decide on the call.

When you have answers you are happy with, check the written agreement against our [contract checklist](https://poutagency.com/guides/onlyfans-agency-contract-checklist) before you sign.

## Common questions about questions for an OnlyFans manager

### Should I record the call?

Only with the other person’s agreement. A simpler option is to write notes straight after the call and email a summary asking them to confirm it. That gives you a written record either way.

### Is it rude to ask all of these?

No. You are being asked to share your account and your income. A manager who is comfortable with their answers will expect questions like these.

### Do these questions apply to a single manager as well as an agency?

Yes. Whether you are talking to one person or a team, the same issues come up: who controls the account, where the money goes, how you leave and who speaks to your fans in your name.

### Is the written agreement enough on its own?

It is the most important record, so check that the answers you were given actually appear in it. This is general information, not legal advice; if anything is unclear, ask a qualified adviser before you sign.
