# OnlyFans pricing strategy: how to price subscriptions and PPV

Written by the Pout Marketing Team Last checked: 25 September 2026 7 minute read

The short answer

There is no correct OnlyFans price. Your pricing is a set of levers: the subscription price, whether the page is free or paid, bundles and discounts, pay-per-view prices, tips and custom requests. Each one changes how many people join, how many renew and how much they spend. Test one change at a time and judge it over more than one month, on total earnings rather than subscriber numbers.

Our free review looks at your current prices alongside your renewals and spend per fan, and suggests one change to test first.

## At a glance

- Pricing is several levers, not one number.
- A higher subscription price can mean fewer subscribers but similar or higher earnings.
- Judge a price change over at least one renewal cycle, not the first week.
- Be honest with fans about what they get for the price.
- OnlyFans and Fansly both say creators receive 80% of what fans pay. Check current terms.

## What does an OnlyFans pricing strategy cover?

This guide is about how to set and test prices. It does not tell you what to charge, because a good price depends on your niche, your content and your audience, and a figure that suits one page can be wrong for another. For where prices fit in the wider business, see our guide on [how to grow an OnlyFans page](https://poutagency.com/guides/how-to-grow-an-onlyfans).

Before you set anything, know what you keep. OnlyFans says creators receive 80% of what fans pay (the platform keeps 20%); Fansly also pays creators 80%. Check each platform’s current terms, because fees change. If you work with an agency, its commission comes on top, as our [commission guide](https://poutagency.com/guides/onlyfans-agency-commission-explained) explains.

## Should my page be free or paid?

A paid page earns from every subscriber each month, and people who pay to join have already shown they value your content. A free page removes the barrier to joining, so it can attract more followers, but it earns mainly from [pay-per-view](https://poutagency.com/guides/glossary#ppv) content, tips and customs. That puts more weight on messaging and on how you price extra content.

Some creators run both, using a free page to introduce people and a paid page for their main content. That doubles the work, so only do it if you have time to run both well. Fansly also lets you set several subscription tiers on one page; our [Fansly vs OnlyFans guide](https://poutagency.com/guides/fansly-vs-onlyfans) compares how the two platforms handle this.

## How do bundles, discounts and free trials fit in?

Platforms offer tools such as multi-month bundles, limited discounts for new or returning subscribers and free trial links. The features available change, so check what your platform currently offers.

- Bundles reward commitment and can reduce [churn](https://poutagency.com/guides/glossary#churn), but you earn less per month from each fan.
- Discounts for returning subscribers can win back people who left, without cutting your price for everyone.
- Free trials can bring in people who would not pay upfront. Watch how many of them go on to renew.
- Constant discounts teach fans to wait for the next one. Use them sparingly and honestly, with no false deadlines.

## How should I price PPV, tips and custom requests?

Pay-per-view prices work best when they are consistent and clearly matched to what the fan receives. Describe the content honestly before someone pays, and never charge for something that does not match the description. Unhappy fans cancel, and misleading them breaks trust you cannot easily rebuild.

Tips are voluntary, so treat them as a thank-you rather than something to press for. Custom requests take the most time, so price them for the work involved, and only accept requests within your written limits. If anyone messages fans for you, chat support should follow the platform’s terms and your written limits, and never mislead fans. Check the platform’s terms on who may operate and message from an account.

## Which price levers affect what?

| Price lever | What it affects | Risk |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Subscription price | How many people join and your earnings from each one | Too high loses joiners; too low leaves money behind |
| Free or paid page | How many join and how much depends on extra sales | A free page relies heavily on messaging and PPV |
| Bundles | Renewals and commitment | Lower earnings per month from each fan |
| Discounts and trials | New joiners and win-backs | Fans learn to wait for discounts |
| PPV prices | Spend per fan | Overpricing or vague descriptions cause cancellations |
| Custom requests | Spend per fan and your time | Underpricing your time, or pressure beyond your limits |

## How do I test a price change?

Change one lever at a time and write down what you changed and the date. Leave it for at least one full renewal cycle, then compare total earnings, new subscribers, renewals and spend per fan with the month before. Our [page KPI calculator](https://poutagency.com/tools/kpi-calculator) works these out from your figures.

1. Price A: $10 a month. 100 people join in month one, earning $1,000 in subscriptions.
2. Price B: $15 a month. 80 people join in month one, earning $1,200 in subscriptions.
3. Each subscriber spends $5 a month on PPV: A adds $500, B adds $400. Month one: A $1,500, B $1,600.
4. In month two, 60 renew at A ($600 plus $300 PPV = $900) and 40 renew at B ($600 plus $200 PPV = $800).
5. Over two months, both prices earn $2,400 before the platform fee.

Made-up round numbers, not a typical result or a recommended price. The point is that month one alone can mislead; renewals and spend per fan change the picture.

## What are the red flags in pricing advice?

- A single recommended price presented as right for everyone.
- Fake countdowns, false scarcity or pressure to buy now.
- Describing PPV content as something it is not.
- Pushing constant discounts to hit a short-term target.
- Pressure to accept custom requests outside your written limits.
- Judging a price change after a few days, before renewals show.

## Common questions about pricing subscriptions and PPV

### Should I lower my price to get more subscribers?

Not automatically. A lower price may bring more joiners but less from each one. Test it for at least a full renewal cycle and compare total earnings, not just subscriber numbers.

### How often should I change my prices?

Rarely, and one lever at a time. Frequent changes make results hard to read and can annoy existing fans. Plan a test, run it, and review it before changing anything else.

### Do existing subscribers pay a new price straight away?

This depends on the platform and how price changes apply to renewals. Check your platform’s current help pages before changing a price, and tell fans honestly if their price will change.
